Every family has its own tradition and this is mine.
MY NAME IS UMBERTO FERRI
Since I was a child …My father Gabriele and my mother Luciana instilled in me a passion for making and cooking with fresh pasta.
In 1955 they open La Lanterna, the first commercial company of handmade tortellini and fresh pasta in the Northern city of Genova, Italy. La Lanterna, that moved to Bologna in 1970 ( pastalalanterna.com ) today employs more than thirty people and continues to practice the same technique and traditional methods of pasta making that my father taught me and whose products can be found on the shelves of the finest gourmet stores throughout Italy.
My sister Claudia now runs the company back in Italy and is committed to maintaining the same traditions of quality and freshness as have always existed in our restaurants.
In 2017, I opened Casa Modena my first restaurant in Culver City, California where I continue my family’s tradition of fresh handmade pasta while creating dishes that explore the wonderful world of truffles thanks to our affiliated company “The Italian Truffle Hunter” for importing the best flavorful truffles from Italy and supplying many of the restaurant in Los Angels.
